Dreamsong is pleased to announce Reunion, the gallery’s third solo exhibition with California-born, St. Paul-based artist Kristen Sanders. Continuing her ongoing exploration of life’s primordial origins, Reunion charts the evolution of biological consciousness in moonlit paintings of fossils, seashells, skulls and other remnants of life’s presence. The exhibition also marks Sanders' inaugural foray into ceramic sculpture. Lending dimensionality to her paintings’ frequently aqueous environments, sinuous kelp fronds, limpets and tendrils of seaweed are glazed in seafoam green, maple red and sandy brown. Inspired in part by the discovery of one of her late uncle’s paintings on eBay earlier this year, Reunion charts the lineages that bind us to our ancestors and the natural world, constructing a unique cosmology drawn from relics of ecological and evolutionary history.
