Please join us in our Cinema for a conversation between Los Angeles-based artist Justine Di Fiore and Dr. Amy K Hamlin. They will discuss Di Fiore's practice and current exhibition, Urgent Care.
Justine Di Fiore is a Los Angeles based visual artist. She was born in Monterey, CA and grew up in the Bronx, NY. Prior to moving to California in 2021 she lived in Minneapolis, MN where she worked as a hospital nursing assistant for 27 years. She holds a B.A.‘90 in Studio Art from Oberlin College and an M.F.A.‘23 in Art Studio from the University of California, Davis. Recent exhibitions include a solo show at The Bunker LA, Los Angeles, CA; and a group show at CULT Aimee Friberg, San Francisco, CA. Care on Canvas, a conversation with Dan Wang recently appeared in Landscapes/A Blade of Grass. Justine has taught painting and drawing at the University of California, Davis and is currently an adjunct instructor at Mount Saint Mary’s University and Chaffey College. Her work is currently on view in Open Inquiry: UC Arts, Sausalito Center for the Arts, Sausalito, CA.
Dr. Amy K. Hamlin is an Associate Professor in the Department of Art and Art History at St. Catherine's University. Hamlin holds a PhD in art history from the Institute of Fine Arts at New York University, an MA in art history from Williams College, and a BA in art history from Vassar College. In 2014, she cofounded with Karen J. Leader the project Art History That, which aims to curate, crowdsource, and collaborate on the future of art history. Between 2016 and 2019, she served as the inaugural Alberta Huber, CSJ, Endowed Chair in the Liberal Arts and Director of the Evaleen Neufeld Initiative in the Liberal Arts.
