Chang Sujung + Patrick Carlin Mohundro

We are pleased to invite you to two back-to-back artist talks with Patrick Carlin Mohundro & Chang Sujung, the current residents at The Cloud House, an artist residency situated on Dreamsong’s campus. Join us in our Cinema on August 4th at 5pm to meet the artists and learn about their practices.

Chang’s work draws from narratives of everyday life, human migration, absurd dreams, and language (especially English idioms). Since moving to the US from South Korea, Chang has explored questions of belonging and concepts of home. For the artist, “The body itself is a highly organized container, one that depends on other containers—clothing, architecture, and the surrounding environment. This has led to projects that reimagine garments as sculptural forms. Sleeves and shirt cuffs become sites of intimacy and reflection, while skirts emerge as shapeshifting structures that transform into vessels.”

Chang Sujung was born in Seoul and moved to the US in 2014. She lives in New York City. Chang received her MFA from Hunter College (2017) and BFA from Ewha Womans University, Seoul (2013). Her recent solo and two-person exhibitions include Alteration at Laura the Gallery, Houston (2025), Detour: cul-de-sac at International Waters, New York (2022) and 88.61 lbs at Hesse Flatow, New York (2020). Her work has been shown in numerous group exhibitions including at 56 Henry, Marinaro, Helena Anrather, Ilmin Museum of Art, Seoul, among others.

Patrick Carlin Mohundro makes “work adjacent to painting and sculpture: objects, perhaps, ideas, maybe. Hammers pass through glass, candles flop and smell like flesh coated in Speed Stick®, porcelain simulates canvas while stained glass stands in for paint.”

Mohundro is from Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and lives in New York. He holds an MFA from Hunter College (2019). Mohundro is the founder of P.A.D., a platform that stages pop-up exhibitions in SoHo and beyond. Patrick will open a two-person exhibition with Ilana Harris-Babou at Essex Flowers in New York on September 12th. His practice reflects a deep commitment to collaboration and collective making.
