A Conversation with Howard Oransky on Ana Mendieta

We are pleased to invite you to a conversation on July 12th at 5pm with Howard Oransky on the subject of Ana Mendieta, whose film Untitled: Silueta Series (Gunpowder Works) (1980) is included in Groundwork, currently on view. Howard Oransky, Director of the Katherine E. Nash Gallery at the University of Minnesota, is the author of Covered in Time and History: The Films of Ana Mendieta (University of California Press: 2015). The first book-length treatment of Mendieta’s moving-image practice, the text aims to locate her films centrally within Mendieta’s larger oeuvre and at the forefront of the multidisciplinary shifts that characterized visual arts practice during the 1970s.
